I installed the SHEILD 7-Stage RO water filter last month, and honestly, it performs much better than I expected. The installation was straightforward and easy. I only needed a 13-bit cobalt drill bit to make a hole in the sink for the additional tap.
After installation, I ran a few tests and here’s what I observed:
1. The system consumed about 8.5 litres of water (Adelaide mains water at ~250 ppm) to produce 5 litres of purified water. This means a total of around 13.5 litres of input water. I believe actual usage may vary depending on source water hardness but I am not sure.
2. The RO output initially increased alkalinity to around pH 9.5. I later added a whole-house filter, which increased it further to about pH 10.5. This feels slightly high for regular consumption, so I’ll need to monitor how the system balances and stabilises the pH closer to 9.5. I wonder if there is a way to automatically keep the level to around 9.5.
Chlorine and chemical strip tests showed no detectable chemicals in the filtered water.
3. The taste is very pleasant. My daily water intake has nearly tripled since installing this filter.
4. Salt content and TDS dropped from around 250 ppm(Tested using TDS meter) to almost zero and later stabilised to 46ppm after couple of week. I can also visibly see hydrogenated bubbles in the water.
Very happy with this whole system, water tasting better and looks very professional.Would have given it a 5 star if the wall mount panel wasn't assembled back to front and an excessive amount of thread tape on the pressure gauges, not a big deal just an added hassle
